I am running for Becker County Sheriff because the citizens of Becker County deserve strong, fair, and accountable law enforcement leadership. I have shown through my knowledge, training, and experience that I can lead the Sheriff’s Office with integrity, trust, and respect. I will lead a Sheriff’s Office that is professional, proactive, and committed to serving every member of our community.

As Sheriff, my top priorities will include: Supporting Sheriff’s Office Staff, Proactive public safety, Strengthening partnerships with our local, state and federal agencies and Expanding community partnerships

Campaign Agenda

I will Expand community partnerships:

- Through positive interactions at community events and community engagement activities with our cities, schools, and businesses.

- Meeting with community groups and seniors for presentations and public safety sessions.

- I will continue building strong relationships between law enforcement, schools and families by staying actively engaged in our schools and community youth programs.

- Having an open line of communication with the public to reach out with any concerns.

I will Strengthen partnerships with our local, state and federal agencies:

- Through information sharing, open communications, and interagency cooperation.

- Having staff attend regular interagency meetings to keep these lines of communication open.

- Training with local and neighboring agencies.

- Public safety coordination, intelligence sharing, joint training and emergency preparedness.

I will promote Proactive public safety by:

- Focusing on reducing drug and violent crimes by addressing problem areas right away.

- Increased patrols and visibility.

- Continued partnership with the West Central Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force.

- Using advanced technology to investigate and solve crimes.

- Maintaining and increasing staffing levels to better serve the growing population and demands of Becker County.

I will support the Sheriff’s Office Staff by:

- Having a positive, supportive, and healthy workplace environment for everyone.

- Maintain an open door leadership approach that encourages communication, trust & collaboration.

- Promote a Wellness and Fitness Initiative. Supporting the mental & physical well-being of all Sheriff’s Office staff.

- Ensuring that Deputies, Corrections Officers, Dispatchers and Support staff receive the advanced training, modern equipment and support needed to succeed. Ensuring that we are prepared for the evolving challenges facing law enforcement today. Knowing that the Sheriff’s Office has the knowledge, experience and tools to respond effectively to get the job done.

- Strengthen recruitment & retention efforts while supporting competitive pay & benefits for our dedicated staff. This allows us to attract and retain dedicated, highly qualified employees.

Through my work experience and positions over the last 27 years, I have established a positive working relationship with public safety agencies and personnel in Becker County and the surrounding areas. By working together, we can provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Becker County. Public safety is strongest when agencies work together. As Sheriff I will strengthen partnerships with local, state and federal agencies to improve communication, coordinate resources and keep our communities safe.

Building trust between law enforcement and the public matters more than ever. Public Safety comes from working together to keep our communities safe. This also means working with our cities and townships on any public safety concerns.
